Swan Song

The Spoon Mountain Singers will give their annual Tinmouth Firehouse concert on Saturday, June 30 at 7 p.m. After 21 years in Tinmouth, this will probably be their last concert of all. The program includes vocal music from many periods: 16^th to 20^th century, sacred and secular. Love songs and spirituals. The centerpiece will be Claudio Monteverdi’s Lamento d’Arianna, his arrangement of one of his early Italian operas, to which the original score has been lost. Ariadne laments her abandonment by Theseus after she helped him slay the minotaur and escape from the palace of Minos. Much music has been written about relationships between men and women. This concert will reflect their variety. This year’s singers: Asha Carroll, Elizabeth Gibson, Tegan Kirk-Elkin, Bob Lloyd, Sue Lloyd, Helen Mango, Andy McCullough, Jay White, and Elizabeth Willbanks.
